Offer affordable, real sunglasses manufactured with the best materials available designed to block 100% of the sun’s harmful rays. Now, we are offering kids’ and adults’ sunglasses in 5 sizes to ensure proper fit and protection for folks of all ages.

Frame Technology
Real Shades is committed to providing the safest, most comfortable fit for children’s sunglasses. We have pioneered the development of our unbreakable frames, made of TPEE, a rubber like material that bends and twists but does not lose its shape. Because these frames are so flexible, they provide the most comfort for children and they are virtually unbreakable. Combined with our shatterproof polycarbonate lenses, our children’s styles provide maximum comfort and safety at an affordable price.
Most of our frames for our older children ages 7 and 10 are made of a lightweight polycarbonate material that provides safety and strength. We also offer tweens a wide range of styles from iconic Aviator to sport and fashion models.
All Real Shades frames are capable of accepting a Rx lens if children require a corrective lens.
Lens Technology
Kids’ eyes are especially vulnerable to UV light, since they don’t have the same level of natural protection as adults, so we are driven to provide lenses that meet the highest standards for safety and performance.
All Our Lenses Block 100% of UV Light
When it comes to children’s eyes, there are two types of UV light that are of most concern.
UVB rays are the main concern when it comes to eyes. According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, “Long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in sunlight is linked to eye disease. UVB radiation is considered more dangerous to eyes and skin than UVA radiation.”
UVA rays also are absorbed by your eyes. While they pose far less concern than UVB rays, doctors still recommend that you should avoid them.
Optical Grade
All our sunglass lenses, including our polarized models, are made of optical grade polycarbonate material, which is lightweight and, at the same time, provides excellent impact resistance and optical clarity.
Also keep in mind that cheap, tinted sunglasses with limited UV protection can actually do more harm than good, as they cause your eye lenses to open wider, leaving your eyes even more vulnerable to UV rays.
Mirrored and Colored Lenses
To protect children, Real Shades offers mirrored lens available in blue, green, silver and rose on certain sunglass styles. Mirrored lenses reduce glare by reflecting much of the light that hits the lens surface.
Designed to Block Peripheral Light
Our sunglasses are designed with an 8 base curve providing protection that wraps around children’s eyes to provide maximum sun protection from peripheral light.
P2 Lens Technology
Real Shades recently introduced a high quality, shatterproof polarized lens called P2. To achieve impact resistance, P2 lenses are wrapped in injected polycarbonate material. This highly durable material makes them ideal for children.
Our P2 polarized sunglasses eliminate glare, increase visual clarity, reduce eye strain and enhance contrast. They are especially advantageous to combat intense glare experienced when kids are on the water or snow, and are available on selected Toddler, Kid, Youth and Tween styles.

Real Shades recently introduced a high quality polarized lens we’re calling P2 because were wrapping a 100% polarized lens in injected polycarbonate material to produce a shatterproof polarized lens. Polarized lenses eliminate glare, increase visual clarity, reduce eye strain and enhance contrast. These lenses are especially advantageous to combat intense glare experienced on the water or on the snow. Polarized lenses are available on selected Toddler, Kid, Youth and Tween styles.

Our product-testing program is rigorous and comprehensive. All Real Shades sunglasses are third-party tested to provide 100% UVA/UVB protection as measured by the strictest American, European, and Australian governing bodies.

Sunscreen for the Eyes
While most parents use sunscreen to protect their children from the sun’s harmful rays, many do not think to protect their children’s eye from the sun. Kids’ eyes are more sensitive and have a higher risk of permanent sun damage than grownups. As with skin, sun damage is cumulative, irreparable and can happen any time of year. Real Shades would like to remind parents that our quality children’s sunglasses provide “sunscreen for their children’s eyes,” and it is important to protect your child’s eyes from the sun’s damaging rays every day.
Our sunglasses provide full spectrum UV protection meaning they provide both 100% UVA and UVB protection.
